October 7th, 2001, is considered a turning point in the contemporary history of Afghanistan and Palestine. On this day, the US intervention in Afghanistan began with the promise of reconstruction, security and democracy, but in reality it led to two decades of occupation, war, destruction of infrastructure, increased corruption, widespread migration and the country’s heavy dependence on foreign aid. At the same time, Operation Storm Al-Aqsa in Palestine, by creating a new wave of popular resistance, once again focused global attention on the Palestinian crisis and showed that free nations under pressure and aggression never surrender to force.
