More than 95,000 metric tons of goods transported via railways in a week

Of the total, 737 tons were transit and export goods, some of which were rice. The Ministry of Public Works says that increasing rail transport will create more job opportunities, increase national revenues, and take effective steps towards economic stability, self-sufficiency, and regional trade development. The press release continues by stating that the ministry is trying to provide more convenience for traders and develop the country’s railway infrastructure to significantly increase import and export capacity. These statistics indicate the increasing importance of rail transport in Afghanistan’s economic structure and its role in facilitating trade exchanges with neighboring countries. It has been announced that during the past week, a total of 95,369 metric tons of goods were transported via the country’s railways, including oil, non-oil, transit, and export goods.
